The Five Strengths Reiki (1º-3º Levels)

Founded by Maria João Sereno (Brigitt)

The Five Strengths (Sanskrit, Pali: pañca bala) in Buddhism are faith, effort, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom. They are one of the seven sets of “qualities conducive to enlightenment.” They are parallel facets of the five “spiritual faculties.”

Pañca (Sanskrit, Pali) means “five.” Bala (Sanskrit, Pali) means “power,” “strength,” “force.”

Faith and Wisdom balance each other, as do Energy and Concentration. The Five Faculties are ‘controlling’ faculties because they control or master their opposites. The faculties and powers are two aspects of the same thing.

  • Faith (saddha) – controls doubt
  • Energy/Effort/Persistence (viriya) – controls laziness
  • Mindfulness (sati); – controls heedlessness
  • Concentration (samādhi) – controls distraction
  • Wisdom/Discernment (pañña, prajña) – controls ignorance

Brahmavihāras Reiki (1º-4º Levels)

Founded by Maria João Sereno (Brigitt)

(VMG Mahanada Dhyanadhara)

The brahmavihāras (sublime attitudes, lit. ‘abodes of  brahma’) are a series of four Buddhist virtues and the meditation practices made to cultivate them. They are also known as the four immeasurables (Sanskrit: apramāṇa, Pāli: appamaññā).
According to the Metta Sutta, Shākyamuni Buddha held that cultivation of the four immeasurables has the power to cause the practitioner to be re-born into a Brahma realm (Pāli: Brahmaloka).

The meditator is instructed to radiate out to all beings in all directions the mental states of: 1) loving-kindness or benevolence, 2) compassion, 3) sympathetic joy, and, 4) equanimity. The four immeasurables are also found in Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras (1.33), a text composed long after the beginning of Buddhism and substantially influenced by Buddhism. These virtues are also highly regarded by Buddhists as powerful antidotes to negative mental states (non-virtues) such as avarice, anger and pride.

The Noble Eightfold Path Energy

Founded by Maria João Sereno (Brigitt)

(VMG Mahanada Dhyanadhara)
The Noble Eightfold Path, is one of the principal teachings of the Buddha, who described it as the way leading to the cessation of suffering (dukkha) and the achievement of self-awakening. It is used to develop insight into the true nature of phenomena (or reality) and to eradicate greed, hatred, and delusion. The Noble Eightfold Path is the fourth of the Buddha’s Four Noble Truths; the first element of the Noble Eightfold Path is, in turn, an understanding of the Four Noble Truths. It is also known as the Middle Path or Middle Way.
All eight elements of the Path begin with the word “right”, which translates the word samyañc (in Sanskrit) or sammā (in Pāli). These denote completion, togetherness, and coherence, and can also suggest the senses of “perfect” or “ideal”.

Ashtamangala Reiki

Founded by Maria João Sereno (Brigitt)

(VMGtummo Mahanada Dhyandhara)

Ashtamangala are a sacred suite of Eight Auspicious Signs endemic to a number of Dharmic Traditions such as Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism. The symbols or ‘symbolic attributes’ are yidam and teaching tools. Not only do these attributes, these energetic signatures, point to qualities of enlightened mindstream, but they are the investiture that ornaments these enlightened ‘qualities’. Many cultural enumerations and variations of the Ashtamangala are extant.
Groupings of eight auspicious symbols were originally used in India at ceremonies such as an investiture or coronation of a king. An early grouping of symbols included: throne, swastika, handprint, hooked knot, vase of jewels, water libation flask, pair of fishes, lidded bowl. In Buddhism, these eight symbols of good fortune represent the offerings made by the gods to Shakyamuni Buddha immediately after he gained enlightenment.
